Certification and conformity recognition

A conformity mark valid in one jurisdiction is not automatically recognised in another. For industrial and laboratory equipment entering Serbia, the question of whether an existing certification is accepted, or whether domestic assessment is required, has to be resolved before delivery — a product that cannot be lawfully placed on the market is not a delivered product.

The answer depends on the product category and on the specific standard invoked. Some categories rely on recognition arrangements; others require assessment by a domestic accredited body. Establishing which applies is part of structuring the transaction, not a post-delivery formality.
